Official Launch Party of Irie Astra: A New Reggae Show

High Plains Public Radio is proud to announce the launch of its latest regional program, IRIE ASTRA: Homegrown Reggae, Rolled Fresh in Garden City, Kansas. We are celebrating the new show with a launch party featuring a live DJ set with Irie Astra show host Coleman Younger on Saturday, April 20th! Join Irie Astra host Coleman Younger as he spins the best in dub, dancehall, soca, & other island delights live at Hidden Trail Brewing on Saturday, April 20th, starting at 8:00pm!
Having made his home on the High Plains, Coleman Younger plans to take “I did a semester abroad” to dizzying new heights with Irie Astra. On the show, Coleman shares the stories, legends, and tall tales that shaped the world of Caribbean culture. His show adds depth to songs old and new. Coleman has been in the music world since he was 17 and has worked behind the scenes putting together shows for over 300 artists on stages from Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Cozumel, Mexico!
When he’s not behind the desk at his day job (or playing melodica in his basement because, to date, no one has booked a melodica show), Coleman can be found gallivanting across the Plains, playing hockey, telling his dog to stop barking or cooking a new pescatarian dish. He may be the only practicing Rastafarian on the High Plains.
