In honor of Dr. Seuss’s 113th birthday, Garden City Downtown Vision and Western State Bank invite you to join them in Steven’s Park on Friday, March 3rd for the “Seuss in the Park” reading event.
This fun and free outdoor reading event features multiple story stations with all the great Dr. Seuss books kids know and love. Each child will receive a reading passport to have stamped at each reading station which can then be redeemed for prizes and books.
“We are excited to offer a fun event that encourages kids and families to have fun with reading while exploring new opportunities within community,” said Myca Bunch, Downtown Vision Executive Director. “Dr. Seuss was a great advocate of kids using creativity and imagination to create opportunity. By offering an outdoor reading event, we hope to encourage kids to discover the amazing world around them.”
Come dressed as your favorite Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 or 2, or any other famous Whoville citizen to enter the Western State Bank costume contest. The Garden City High School Art Club will offer kids face painting, there will be a “Hop on Pop” free popcorn station sponsored by Mitchell Theatres, a ‘Lorax’ orange drink station, sponsored by McDonalds and numerous other Seuss related activities.
The event will take place from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. in Steven’s Park in Downtown Garden City.
In addition to the ‘Seuss in the Park’ event, Downtown Frist Friday features many in-store specials each and every First Friday with participating stores staying open until 7:00 p.m. Traditions Soda Shop is serving up $.75 ice cream cones from 4-6 p.m. Las Margaritas Mexican Food Restaurant is offering free kids meals with the purchase on an adult meal, and Patrick Dugan’s Coffee House will have their 16oz smoothies for $3.
