Vendor booth spaces filling up quickly for 8th annual festival on July 8
Booths spaces are filling up quickly for the Finney County Historical Society’s Eighth Annual Flea Market Festival, which is planned the weekend after Independence Day in Lee Richardson Zoo, but donated items are still welcome for the accompanying patio sale at the event.
The festival of antiques, collectibles, art and crafts is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8, and organizers are accepting up to 60 registrations from vendors offering items to the crowd, which last year surpassed 4,300 people. Approximately 75 percent of the spaces had been taken as of June 16, and all spaces with electrical access are booked.
In addition to the visiting vendors, the host organization covers the museum’s 1,600-square foot patio with bargain-priced donated merchandise, including housewares, furniture, electronics, glassware, decorative objects, holiday decorations, dishes, appliances, cookware, games, toys, pictures, purses, lamps, sports equipment, tools and a wide range of other garage sale and flea market goods.
Anyone interested in donating goods for the sale may take them to the north/staff entrance of the museum at 403 S. Fourth in Finnup Park or call 620-272-3664 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Most clean and functional items in good condition are welcome, with the exception of books, clothing, shoes and old-style televisions. Proceeds from the patio sale and booth fees support museum exhibits and programs. Pickup arrangements are available for large items.
The festival is backed in part by the Finney County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Vendors have already registered from Beeler, Copeland, Dighton, Garden City, Holcomb, Iuka, LaCrosse, Lakin, Liberal, McCracken, Montezuma, Moscow, Salina, Satanta, Scott City, Stockton and Sublette, as well as Oklahoma City and Wakita, Okla.
